I hear negative things about traveling in Mexico. Is it safe?
Millions of Americans, Canadians and Europeans safely visit Mexico every year. Tourism is the second largest industry in Mexico and the government wants to insure your safety while traveling. The reported violence is typically in or near border towns, not the Riviera Maya which is thousands of miles away.
The US Department of State has no travel advisory in place for travel destinations in the Rivera Maya including Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Tulum.
Here are some links to independent reports on safety in Mexico:
Will I have communication with home?
Yes, wireless internet service, cell and telephone service will be available. Please check with your cell service provider for international availability and costs. We encourage limited contact with home and work so you can focus on yourself during your stay. Sharing of other participant’s identities or personal disclosures is prohibited.
Do I need
immunizations to travel to Mexico?
Immunization is
not required to enter or stay in Mexico.
What if I get sick or injured?
The staff is acquainted with local medical professionals and hospitals. We will assist you in obtaining needed medical care.
